Frequently Asked Questions
-
What are your fees?Rates for therapy sessions are $175 per 50-minute session. We also offer sliding scale rates for individuals with financial need. The sliding scale fee is determined based on your annual household income and the number of people living in that household/off that income. Payment is due in full at the time of each service and can be made through the secure SimplePractice Client Portal. You may be able to get partial reimbursement through your insurance company (see "Do you accept insurance?" and “Will I get reimbursed?” below).
-
Do you accept insurance?Although I do not accept insurance at this time, I am happy to provide all the receipts and documentation you would need to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Insurance providers often differ in their reimbursement policies, so it is important to review your coverage carefully and consult with your insurer to address any questions. See “Will I get reimbursed?” below for more information.

Will I get reimbursed? You will be asked to pay for each session in full at the time of service. If you choose to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider, I will provide you with a receipt and documentation to submit. Insurance providers often differ in their reimbursement policies, so it is important to review your coverage carefully and consult with your insurer to address any questions. Here are a few questions to consider or to discuss with your insurance provider: - What are your mental health insurance benefits? - What is your deductible and has it been met? - Is there a limit to the behavioral health sessions your insurance covers per year? - How much of the fee will your insurance company reimburse per session with a licensed clinical psychologist (CPT Code 90834)? - Does your insurance provider require pre-approval from your primary care physician? - What information do you need to submit for reimbursement and how do you do it?

How frequent are appointments? For the best chance of rapid and lasting change, I recommend weekly sessions. As time goes on and you are making progress toward your goals, sessions can be spaced out (e.g. meeting every other week). There is also the option of “maintenance” sessions, where you come into therapy once per month or on an as needed basis (e.g. when life stressors or difficulties arise).
-
What are your hours?I understand that our lives are busy, and it can be challenging at times to fit therapy sessions into your weekly schedule. But I also strongly believe that finding time in your schedule for therapy can be an important form of self-care and a great investment into your own mental health and overall well-being. For this reason, I do my best to accommodate even the busiest schedules. In addition to normal business hours (Mondays through Fridays, 9am – 5pm) I can be available for sessions in the evenings (5pm – 8pm) and on weekends when necessary. During our complementary 15-minute phone call, we can discuss scheduling availability and options.
-
How long are individual sessions?Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Sometimes clients find it helpful to have more than 50 minutes, in which case our sessions can be extended to 60 or 90 minutes. Fees for extended sessions are prorated accordingly. If this is an option you are interested in, please let me know and we can discuss further.
-
Do you prescribe medication? No, I do not prescribe medication, however, I often work closely with psychiatrists and other physicians to coordinate client care. If you would like to pursue medication in addition to therapy, I am able to make referrals or aid in your search for a prescriber.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?Life being what it is, I understand you may occasionally have to cancel a scheduled appointment. In those situations, please let me know at least 24 hours before your appointment time. This gives me the opportunity to offer your appointment slot to another client. With the exception of emergency situations, cancellations with less than 24-hour notice will be charged at the full standard rate. Similarly, if you do not show for your appointment you will be charged the full rate of the session.
